Instructor’s Guide for Murach’s Structured COBOL
To make it easy for you to run a course using Murach’s
Structured COBOL, we’ve developed an Instructor's
Guide with all the supporting materials you need. That
includes:
PowerPoint slides for classroom presentations
Behavioral objectives
Multiple-choice tests and test answers
Solutions to the exercises in each chapter of the book
Solutions to the student projects in the appendix of the book
Because the PowerPoint slides include all of the critical information
that’s in the figures of the book, it’s easy for you to review
any topics that your students have trouble with in class. Then, the tests
let you test comprehension, the projects let you test programming skills,
and the solutions let you review the critical coding skills.
To see for yourself how well our materials work, you can download
a sample of this Instructor’s Guide. Then, if you like what you

How to download a sample of the Instructor’s Guide
When you click on the Download Sample Guide link below, a sample of the
materials in the Instructor’s Guide will be copied to your system in
a single ZIP file named COBOLSample.exe. Then, you can find the ZIP file
in your Windows Explorer and double-click on it. This will expand the files
of the Sample Guide into a folder named C:\Murach\COBOL\Sample IG.
To start evaluating these materials, we suggest that you open and print
the Word document named Introduction in the Sample IG folder. It gives more
information about the course and its components. Then, you can review the
tests for the first five chapters, which are presented in Word documents.
You can review the PowerPoint slides for the first two chapters. And you
can review the objectives for all the chapters.
Note, however, that the Sample Guide doesn’t include any of the Test
Answers, Exercise Solutions, or Project Solutions, so your students can’t
get access to them by downloading this Sample (we don’t screen who
downloads it). Of course, those items are included in the complete Guide.
