"I read A LOT of developer books. Many I like, many I loathe.
"If I were going to teach a course on C#, I would probably choose Murach's C# 2005 as the textbook....
But UNLIKE a lot of textbooks, this book is easy to read (and therefore learn from), it's up-to-date, including detailed coverage of the latest C# 2.0 language constructs, and it has a commercial programming feel so its goal is not simply to provide academic coverage of the programming language, but rather how to write good code with C#.
"Wanna learn C#? Wanna learn more about C#? Want a great desk reference for C#?
"Buying this book should be a no-brainer!"
Joe Stagner, Microsoft Technical Evangelist & Developer Community Champion, blogs.msdn.com/JoeStagner
"[This training manual] continues to propagate Murach's successful knowledge-transfer formula while providing programming newcomers and C# 1.x developers alike with some of the easiest, most intuitive, and most relevant examples of C# 2005 in action."
Mike Riley, aspnetpro.com
"I have to tell you that your C# book is far and away the best resource I have seen to date.
"I decided to tackle C# and VS 2005 a couple months ago. I started out on the Microsoft Press Step-by-Step book, tossed that aside and went to the Wrox Beginning series book. After a couple of weeks, I came to the realization that I was going to need an entire set of books to get what I needed. The Wrox book got me started, but it was lacking something that I couldn't put my finger on.
"So, I purchased about 10 different books. Then the magical day happened when I went to a C# class at my local university and there was your book. After skimming it for about 2 minutes, I realized what a goldmine I had in front of me.
"This book really does do what the learner needs. It is simple, straightforward, presents logical examples, and the two-page format is the best."
Timothy Layton, President/CEO, Tim Layton & Associates, LLC, St. Louis, Missouri
"This book is a must for those learners who wish
to master pure C# in a quick span of time. I have no
hesitation to give this book a 5-star rating. In fact,
Murach books are a great addition for a developer's
library."
Anand Narayanaswamy, AspAlliance.com
"I have used the Microsoft Press and the WROX books in the pastthis book on C# is by far the best!!! The side-by-side format enables much more efficient learning."
John Duddy, MD, Anchorage, Alaska
"For several years now, I've been successfully avoiding having to
learn C#. Why should I learn something that is tied
to just Microsoft systems? Answer: Because someone came
by and was willing to pay a rather large amount of money
for a project but insisted on C#.
"OK, so now I need
to know C#, and I need to know it quickly. The solution
to that problem (regardless of the language) is really
simplea Murach book.
"It took me about
two weeks to go through Murach's C# 2005, the two weeks before the contract
started. When I got started on the gig, I could hold
my own with the other C# programmers. And that's all
you can possibly ask of a book."
