Meet the author
Zak Ruvalcaba came to us just as we were wondering how we were going to find the time to update the first edition of our HTML and CSS book. Within days, we found that Zak is a consummate expert on web development, as well as a published author with 5 books to his credit and an experienced teacher with an MS in Educational Technology. That's why we were delighted when he agreed to be the lead author and content expert for the HTML5 and CSS3 edition of our book.
Zak's professional experience with the web began in 1995, and he served as a creative director with EPIC Solutions until 1998. Then, he became manager of web development at SkyDesk Inc., where he developed web applications for companies like Gateway, HP, Toshiba, IBM, Intuit, Peachtree, Dell, and Microsoft. In his spare time, he's taught web development courses for the San Diego Community College District at both Mt. San Jacinto Community College and Palomar Community College.
