Who this book is for
This book is for anyone who wants to learn how to program with SDK 1.3 or 1.4 of Java 2. It works if you have no programming experience at all. It works if you have programming experience with another language like C++, Visual Basic, or COBOL. And it works if you've already read 3 or 4 other Java books and still don't know how to develop a real-world business application.
If you're working with a later version of Java, though, we have two more recent editions:Murach's Beginning Java 2, JDK 5 and Murach's Java SE 6. They offer all the same benefits as the original edition, but teach you Java 1.5 or 1.6 instead.
