Murach's C# 2008
This is the latest edition of our core C# book that's
designed for introductory C# courses. But it also works
for object-oriented and database programming courses,
so some instructors are using it for two- or three-course
sequences.
For an introductory course, this book
gives your students a realistic view of how Visual Studio
and C# are used to develop Windows Forms applications.
By the time your students complete chapter 7, for example,
they will be able to develop bulletproof applications
that do data validation and exception handling. And
by the time they complete chapter 12, they'll be able
to develop object-oriented applications.
For advanced courses, you're really going to be hard-pressed to find a better book:
- In sections 1 and 2, your students can review the essential skills that they often don't learn in introductory courses that use other books.
- In section 3, your students can learn all of the intricacies of object-oriented programming.
-
In section 4, your students can learn how to develop Windows database applications.
And because the sections are modular, you can teach the subjects in whatever
sequence you prefer.
Changes from the 2005 edition: Although there are changes to the .NET Framework, there isn't a
lot of change in the C# language or the Visual Studio environment in the 2008 release.
So if you're using Murach's C# 2005 and want to upgrade,
you won't have to make major adjustments to your course
outside of section 4, on database programming (that
section has been abridged, as we will have a full book
on ADO.NET 3.5). There is also a new chapter in section
5 on LINQ.
Training aids in the book itself: Practice exercises
Training aids available in our Downloads section: Source code and data for the book applications; Starting code, data, and solutions for the exercises
