Murach's JavaScript and DOM Scripting
If your students have already taken a programming course, you should be able to move quickly through the first 10 chapters in this book because most JavaScript features are a subset of those offered by languages like Java, C#, and Visual Basic.
From that point on, your course can focus on the object-oriented programming and DOM scripting skills that will take your students to a new level of expertise. Because of the way this book moves from the simple to the complex, the only limit to how far your students go will be the length of the course.
On the other hand, if your students are coming from an XHTML/CSS background with no programming experience, this book may be too fast-paced for them. To find out, just
review chapter 2 of this book. If you think your students will be able to read that chapter and do the exercises at the end, they should be ready for this book.
Training aids in the book itself: Practice exercises
