Who this book is for

This book is for COBOL programmers on MVS or VSE systems who need to know how to access and process DL/I databases in their programs.

By the way, both MVS and VSE allow for DL/I database, or DB, processing, which is what this book covers. On an MVS system, though, DL/I is part of a product called IMS/VS, which also allows for data communications, or DC processing. That's taught in IMS for COBOL, Part 2.
